The Big Picture
- What does being healthy mean to you, and why is it Important?
In 2014, at 49 years old, I returned from a fishing trip feeling terrible and ended up in the
hospital with chest pain. Lying in that bed, hooked up to machines, I thought it was the end. I
imagined never seeing my children get married, never having grandkids, and leaving my wife
buried in debt.
The diagnosis was a wake-up call—Atrial Fibrillation, GERD, high cholesterol, obesity,
dangerously high fat levels in my blood, and obstructive sleep apnea. Treatment included
electric cardioversion, medications, a CPAP machine, and a complete diet overhaul.
When I got home, depression hit hard. Medication made it worse, and I felt physically and
mentally drained. I wanted to change but believed it was too late. I started exercising but kept
failing—until my friend Jeff kept pushing me to try CrossFit. I refused for a year, but in June
2018, I finally stepped into CrownTown.
Today, I have no Afib, no GERD, no obesity, no sleep apnea, and clean bloodwork. That’s why
health matters. It gave me my life back. - What are your current health and fitness goals?
To gain strength, muscle, flexibility and endurance. - What would you say has been your greatest achievement so far?
Winning the battle in my mind—overcoming the mental strongholds that held me back.

Challenges and breakthroughs:
- What have been your biggest obstacles in the past?
After my cardiac ablation in 2016, I struggled with constant palpitations. I became hyper-aware
of my heartbeat, which made workouts difficult and sleep miserable. - How did you overcome these obstacles?
One day, after a rowing session, I mentioned my palpitations to Coach Wayne. I had just done
another stress test, and the doctors told me there was nothing they could do except prescribe
more medication. Wayne suggested electrolytes. Over time, supplementing with good salt and
adrenal cocktails made my palpitations disappear. - What key factors have contributed to your success?
Learning about proper nutrition, Supplementing wisely, Great coaching, and Maintaining a
calorie deficit when needed
The Journey:
- What do you love most about exercising:
Love is a choice, not a feeling. You build deep appreciation for exercise by showing up and
committing to it every day. - What do you find most challenging about exercising?
Pushing my limits without going too far and risking serious injury. - Does feeling and looking your best contribute to your overall happiness if so how?
You don’t realize how bad you felt until you start feeling good. The quality of life that comes
from real health—being present in the moment, enjoying life without limitations—is invaluable.
