2012 Reebok CrossFit Games Open update

Team:

We are 40% through the Open competition (week 2 of 5 is behind us). I wanted to recognize a few people for their performances and also keep the community apprised of our athlete’s current rankings. Here are a few notes;

Women’s 60+ age division:

Robbie Schneider 125th out of 175 in the world (top 20 advance to the finals)

Women’s 55-59 age division:

Paula Halstead 66th out of 360 in the world (top 20 advance to the finals)

Men’s 55-59 age division:

Jeff Cariker 240th out of 540 in the world (top 20 advance to the finals)

Women’s 45-49 age division:

Cheri Blakefield 955th out of 1,380 in the world (top 20 advance to the finals)

Men’s 45-49 age division:

Bryan Mataya 166th out of 1,920 in the world (top 20 advance to the finals)

Women’s Open Division:

Shelly Vander Velde 381st out of 1,800 in the SoCal Region

Leilani Vasconcelos 646th out of 1,800 in the SoCal Region

Melissa Johnston 675th out of 1,800 in the SoCal Region

(top 60 in the Open Division advance to the Regional competition)

Men’s Open Division:

Wayne Willette 14th out of 3,200 in the SoCal Region

Nick Benavides 62nd out of 3,200 in the SoCal Region

Brett Panceroff 131st out of 3,200 in the SoCal Region

(top 60 in the Open Division advance to the Regional competition)

Team Competition:

CrossFit CrownTown 55th out of 131 in the SoCal Region

(top 30 teams advance to the Regional competition)

Great representation to all of the athletes mentioned above. I’m proud of every athlete involved in the competition. Regardless of ranking, just to see you all give it 100% effort in your workouts is rewarding enough to me. There are an abundance of personal records being set and I look forward to seeing many more over the next three weeks. You are discovering that your body can do things your mind wasn’t convinced of. Let’s keep this momentum going, keep supporting your teammates, and most importantly keep having fun!

Here is a shot of Calvin Becerra during his 63 rep performance on WOD 12.2. That 165 pounds was a PR for Calvin and he ended up doing it three times after he did 60 snatches leading up to that big weight. Nice job C-Money!
