2012 Reebok CrossFit Games Open – Update

Team:

We are 60% through the Open competition (week 3 of 5 is behind us). I wanted to recognize a few people for their performances and also keep the community apprised of our athlete’s current rankings. Here are a few notes;

Women’s 60+ age division:

Robbie Schneider 118th out of 175 in the world (top 20 advance to the finals)

Women’s 55-59 age division:

Paula Halstead 68th out of 360 in the world (top 20 advance to the finals)

Men’s 55-59 age division:

Jeff Cariker 234th out of 540 in the world (top 20 advance to the finals)

Women’s 45-49 age division:

Cheri Blakefield 857th out of 1,380 in the world (top 20 advance to the finals)

Men’s 45-49 age division:

Joe Merriam 223rd out of 1,920 in the world (top 20 advance to the finals – only 3 places behind Bob Harper, The Biggest Loser’s trainer)

Women’s Open Division:

Shelly Vander Velde 377th out of 1,800 in the SoCal Region

Leilani Vasconcelos 548th out of 1,800 in the SoCal Region

Melissa Johnston 652nd out of 1,800 in the SoCal Region

(top 60 in the Open Division advance to the Regional competition)

Men’s Open Division:

Wayne Willette 15th out of 3,200 in the SoCal Region

Nick Benavides 75th out of 3,200 in the SoCal Region

Brett Panceroff 154th out of 3,200 in the SoCal Region

(top 60 in the Open Division advance to the Regional competition)

Team Competition:

CrossFit CrownTown 55th out of 131 in the SoCal Region & 718th out of 1,800 in the world

(top 30 teams advance to the Regional competition)

Again, I’m very thankful for the athletes mentioned above, and all of the athletes on our team for that matter, that have contributed to the team in one way or another. I was stoked to see a few more PRs this week, as a result of testing your limits in the Open WOD. All the reasons why I wanted people to get involved are unfolding and it’s a pleasure to witness. i.e., PRs, team work, camaraderie, motivation and getting more fit!

I look forward to this Saturday’s event that CrossFit CrownTown is hosting. When the 12.4 WOD is released, I will be creating a heat list for you to sign up on to designate what time you will be competing. It’s based on equipment needed to complete the WOD, space and the time domain of the WOD. Regardless, you will all have a chance to go. Please let me know, if you are on the team and will not be able to attend this Saturday. – WW
